Feeling Blessed Through It All
Paulette is a woman who strives to surround herself with love. As a mother of six wonderful children, she still feels blessed despite her battles.
On her birthday in August 2019, doctors diagnosed Paulette with triple negative breast cancer. To combat her breast cancer, she began treatment with chemotherapy and a bilateral mastectomy followed by radiation. She is now continuing with chemotherapy to combat her breast cancer.
Above all, Paulette feels truly blessed as she is surrounded by her children and family during this journey. She has always wanted to help others and bring love to the world. For Paulette’s entire life her mom was sick so she became a nurse to try to help others feel better. “All I want is love,” she explains. She feels that negativity takes years off one’s life, so she has stayed positive and hasn’t let her diagnosis bring her down.
While staying positive throughout her treatment, Paulette still had to face countless obstacles that came with her diagnosis. At first, without being diagnosed with the stage of her breast cancer, she was not able to receive financial aid. She hadn’t even been approved for social security and couldn’t get it without a stage 3 or 4 diagnosis. Thus, she was not able to receive social security until her surgeries confirmed her breast cancer was in fact stage 3.
Luckily, Paulette has been able to receive support from organizations such as United Breast Cancer Foundation. Through UBCF, she has received both an individual grant and child sponsorship. When asked what a donor’s gift meant to her she explained that “it meant the world” to her and her kids. Paulette thanks UBCF for all the support and UBCF thanks Paulette for her strength and inspiration!
UBCF thanks donors for the impact they have on those affected by a breast cancer diagnosis. For more information on how to donate or receive aid from UBCF, please visit UBCF.org.
