Huntington Station, NY (PRWEB) May 14, 2015

United Breast Cancer Foundation (UBCF) announces the debut of two new Public Service Announcements at the Indianapolis 500, “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing”! The spots, scheduled for released at the Memorial Day weekend event (May 22 – 24, 2015), will help raise awareness about male and female breast cancer, and inform those in need that support and assistance is available through the UBCF programs. Stephanie Mastroianni, UBCF Executive Director, says: “The United Breast Cancer Foundation is honored to be a part of this event, and thankful for the opportunity to raise awareness about male and female breast cancer, and UBCF’s mission.”

During the three day event UBCF representatives will interview spectators, pass out information, and let attendees know that UBCF’s life-supporting programs are available to women, men and families across the country. In addition to reaching hundreds of thousands of attendees, those at home will also view the UBCF messages during the race when the jumbo-tron announcements are on-screen.

In an interview about the event, Ms. Mastroianni stated: “As an organization, UBCF is committed to assisting those affected by breast cancer. We’re committed to increasing awareness about the need for early diagnosis, especially for men. We’re thankful for the opportunity to participate in the Indy 500, and to help bring attention to this important aspect of breast health, and to let those in need know help is available!”

According to the National Cancer Institute an estimated 2,350 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year, and 440 will lose their battle with the disease. One reason for such a high mortality rate is that men are not encouraged by health professionals to self examine or be screened for breast cancer. UBCF encourages men to learn the self-breast exam and to be routinely screened by a doctor.

Participation in the race event will help increase awareness of the UBCF vehicle donation program.
