UBCF understands that breast cancer not only affects the patient but the entire family.
Beth Reichart, UBCF Director of Operations, points out that “Breast cancer not only affects the patient but the entire family. UBCF has taken considerable care in developing programs that serve breast cancer patients and their family members, including the Audrey B. Mastroianni College Scholarship. This program, created by UBCF’s long-standing President and Executive Director, Ms. Stephanie Mastroianni, is dedicated to assisting college-bound students who have suffered the loss of a parent due to breast cancer”.
The Audrey B. Mastroianni College Scholarship was established to honor the legacy of Stephanie’s Mother, Mrs. Audrey B. Mastroianni, a teacher, artist and firm believer in education and continued personal enrichment. In the Fall of 2005 UBCF awarded its first Audrey B. Mastroianni College Scholarship to Dena, a young woman who had just graduated high school and was entering Art School. Stephanie, who now works as an unpaid consultant for UBCF, says: “The staff of UBCF was pleased to support Dena throughout her studies, even funding her semester abroad to study art in Italy. Since its inception, the Audrey B. Mastroianni College Scholarship has awarded over $42,500.00 in funding to assist 63 students in making their higher educational dreams a reality”. Stephanie also points out that UBCF achieved 425% growth in this program from 2012 to 2013.
