Hear their Stories
I am blown away by the kindness of the folks at UBCF. They went above and beyond in reaching out to us and making this mattress donation happen. I’m 2 years out from my diagnosis, but the stress really doesn’t go away. I don’t take a good night’s sleep for granted. So thank you to UBCF for your generosity and enhancing my quality of life!
LisaHow do I find the words to say thank you? United Breast Cancer Foundation has been amazing and Temper-Pedic so very generous to help with donations! It is so easy to go to a very dark place when facing cancer. This gift has lifted my spirits so high! Thank you!
AmyI cannot thank you enough for everything! Saturday was so well organized I was able to make the six hour trip to pick up the bed and the other goodies and still get to work on time at 1pm. The beds are AMAZING. We haven’t slept this well in at least a decade. The clothes were an incredible surprise and I can’t wait to wear them and the Burt’s Bees lotion - I totally love them.
This morning before I go to work I’m trying out that George Foreman Rotisserie. What an incredible gift.
Thank you so much for all you did to make this happy and special thanks to the companies who made this happen! Now I really will be able to say I can’t wait to get home and sleep in my own bed!
Aida I.Dante was a 2018 King’s Creek timeshare give-away winner. He and his girlfriend traveled to historic Williamsburg, VA in March to enjoy some time together. Below are some words from Dante about his very personal experience.
“This trip was something that really helped me. It felt like all I could do was keep going through the motions and hopefully I could get “back to normal”.
This trip however made me remember when I was little, and I would take trips with my parents and actually go places back when we could actually go places together. I saw museums and signs and penny stamping machines, but to me everything I saw looked like a memory I had already made with my mom. I miss her so much, but this reminder of my childhood, when everything was normal, it felt good to remember how she was when she was healthy. I know she wanted us to all remember her healthy and I have been having the hardest time of that. It feels like she was sick for so long that I couldn’t remember anything but that.
This trip helped remind me how she wanted to be remembered. Thank you so much for this gift.
DanteI would personally like to thank your foundation & the volunteers for the mattresses & other products that were given to me. I was really only expecting maybe a mid-grade mattress. But I was totally surprised that I received a high-grade Tempur-Pedic mattress. I had mentioned to my co-worker that I needed to buy a new mattress but really couldn't afford one right now. I truly appreciate the mattresses and have enjoyed my good night sleep on it and will for many years.
Upon arriving at the site, I was ready for picking up the mattress but was given so much more. The lotion and all the products from Burt Bees will be used and greatly appreciated. There were other gifts that the foundation gave me also and I do feel really grateful for all the gifts. I am a 2x cancer survivor and doing this last bout with cancer because of my age was harder emotionally & financially also. I still have bills to pay connected to continuing follow-ups and times are hard and I along with others could not make it without the UBCF help. Please keep up the good work because all of us are grateful for anything that helps us through these trying times.
Peggy AdamsWanted to send a small thank you for the wonderful mattress. It has been a blessing to enjoy a new soft comfortable mattress. During my illness I have spent many days, and weeks in bed with this new mattress it has afforded me an opportunity to be revived with the newness and uplifting to the comfort. Now I enjoy the time in bed with renewed strength.
Thank you so much for organizing the event in Norton Virginia. Due to the location being so close I was able to travel from my home to get the mattress in less than a day. The mattress has been a positive part of my recovery. Again thank you so much.
DonnaWords never reach, when what has to be said overflows the soul.
LuzMy family and me, are very grateful for such a noble cause of the United Breast Cancer
Foundation. That night I was able to sleep so comfortably and painlessly, thanks to Tempur-Pedic(R) who relieved my nights and the other companies that made my Christmas happy.
Volunteers and organizers of the event also thank you for your good humanitarian example.
Julio CortazarOn the beginning I would like to express my gratitude for the help I’ve been given. This is not the first time that UBCF is reaching out to help me. I have been entered and awarded vacation timeshare Giveaway in Williamsburg, VA for a week-long stay at the beautiful Historic Powhatan Resort. The accommodations and on site daily activities were wonderful. All amenities were included , all I was responsible were transportation and meals.
I’ve been through a lot like most of the survivors: cancer diagnosis 6 year ago (at age 35), double mastectomy, chemo, radiation, divorce, and just recently in July 2014, finally, breast reconstruction.
And this wonderful opportunity was is like: “the light at the end of the tunnel.” We all: my kids, sister (who is visiting us from Poland), very much so enjoyed the time spend together.
I truly appreciate UBCF and all it staff for making my journey through life more enjoyable, and giving not only me but also my loved ones this summer, one of many, filled with great memories, and much needed relaxation.
RenataI just wanted to write and tell you that I have a renewed gratitude for my Tempur-Pedic mattress. I just had another surgery and I didn’t have the mattress after my first surgery. I’m amazed at how much easier it is for me to get comfortable and rest on this bed. It is truly the gift that keeps on giving.
AmyI would like to thank you for the mattresses that we received. I am blessed with comfort and my family is as well. I would also like to thank you on behalf of all of us that fight this disease for all you do. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all you have given us.
