Print PSA “Step Up to the Plate for Every Woman®” increasing awareness of breast cancer
HUNTINGTON STATION, N.Y. (PRWEB) MARCH 29, 2018
The United Breast Cancer Foundation (UBCF) is celebrating Major League Baseball’s (MLB) Opening Day this Thursday, March 29. This year’s MLB opening Day is a special one for “America’s Favorite Past-time” – for the first time in 50 years, all 30 MLB club teams will open on the same day! This is only the 12th time in MLB history that all teams open on the same day, and March 29 marks the earliest start to any MLB season.
UBCF’s print Public Service Announcement (PSA), “Step Up to the Plate for Every Woman®” is displayed in nearly every 2018 Major League Baseball team’s Gameday Souvenir Program and Yearbook. The print PSA features the image of a little girl with charming red curls up at bat and highlights educational information about both female and male breast cancer. One of UBCF’s goals is to increase awareness of male breast cancer. UBCF encourages men and women to be aware of any physical changes. Learn the Self Breast Exam here: male version, female version.
Ms. Stephanie Mastroianni, UBCF’s Executive Director shared, “UBCF is thrilled to partner with MLB in promoting Breast Cancer Awareness for both women AND men! Join UBCF – it’s time to Step Up to the plate and knock Breast Cancer out of the park!”
There are eight divisional matchups among the 15 total MLB games. You can catch all the games at MLB.com or ESPN (check local listings, all times below are EST). Some of the Opening Day rivalry match-ups are:
- The intra-division rivalry between the 2017 MLB Word Series Winners Houston Astros vs. Texas Rangers. Game is scheduled for 3:35 pm at the Global Life Park in Arlington, TX. UBCF’s print PSA is located on page 88 of the Houston Astros Gameday book, opposite All-Star Jose Altave and Alex Bregman.
- One of the most competitive and longest-standing rivalries in all of baseball – San Francisco Giants vs. L.A. Dodgers. Game is scheduled for 7:08 p.m. at Dodger Stadium. UBCF’s print PSA is located on page 96 in the L.A. Dodgers Yearbook opposite player profile of Pitcher Henry Ownes. It’s Owens’ first season with the Dodgers.
- The New York Yankees vs. Toronto Blue Jays, playing Opening Day for the first time in 15 years! Game is scheduled for 3:37 p.m. at Toronto’s Rodger Center. UBCF’s print PSA is featured in the Toronto Blue Jay’s Gameday book.
