Official Launch of Male Self Breast Exam

Exciting news! United Breast Cancer Foundation (UBCF) is pleased to offer a brand new resource!

This resource came about, after the successful campaign during the Daytona 2016 Race weekend in February. UBCF’s goal was to bring awareness to breast cancer in both sexes.

That’s right – UBCF is pleased to offer a Male Self Breast Exam!

It’s true that breast cancer in men is rare. They account for less the 1% of breast cancer cases. According to the American Cancer Society, in 2016, about 2,600 men are expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer. That means 1 in 1,000 will be diagnosed with breast cancer. (For women, it is 1 in 8 who will be diagnosed with breast cancer.)

If there’s a silver lining to breast cancer, it’s that you CAN perform a monthly self exam. You can physically see, feel, and touch the area for any changes or noticeable differences. You can be proactive in preventive care and screening.

Yes, it’s rare for men to be diagnosed with breast cancer. However, that does not mean that it doesn’t happen and that it isn’t as deadly. Men have breasts.
