Brand new mattresses available at no-cost for women, men and children impacted by breast cancer
HUNTINGTON STATION, NY (PRWEB) MARCH 02, 2016
The United Breast Cancer Foundation (UBCF) is pleased provide a very generous donation of brand new Tempur-Pedic® mattresses to the Long Island, NY and surrounding communities this Spring (donation date TBD). There are a limited number of twin and double size mattresses available to those in need. People interested in receiving a mattress should contact UBCF at 1-877-822-4287 ext 704 or email Maria Andrade, maria@ubcf.org, to set-up an appointment to receive a mattress. Mattresses will be distributed on a first come, first served basis with priority to breast cancer patients and survivors followed by women and men of all levels of health. Financial need is taken into consideration as well. An appointment is required to receive a mattress. Volunteer opportunities are available as well.
Tempur-Pedic® mattresses are developed based on a patented foam technology originally created by NASA and designed to provide a better night’s sleep with less back pain. A good night’s sleep is critical to physical and mental health and wellness. According to the National Institutes of Health, “Sleep deficiency can lead to physical and mental health problems, injuries, loss of productivity, and even a greater risk of death.” Tempur-Pedic® mattresses are highly recommended as a means of improving quality and duration of sleep for a variety of reasons such as reduction in pressure points thus reducing “tossing and turning”. The mattress material responds to a person’s unique shape – adapting to support the body, helping to distribute weight evenly and alleviate pressure on the joints.
Stephanie Mastroianni, Executive Director has this to share, “UBCF is pleased to offer this opportunity to the Long Island community. Long Island has one of the highest rates of breast cancer, as mentioned in the Long Island Breast Cancer Study Project. As an organization headquartered in Huntington, NY we are honored to serve our home community.” Ms. Mastroiannis adds, “It’s wonderful to provide a such a reputable and proven product to breast cancer patients. The use of Tempur-Pedic mattresses can alleviate pain, reduce stress on joints and muscles and provide a restful night’s sleep which is vital to the body’s recovery from illness and stress.”
