There are many iPhone/Android apps floating around that assist women and girls by educating them about self-exams, tips and facts about breast health and reminders about breast exams. These three apps have great reviews and they’re all free from the App store! The first two apps both give information about self exams as well as reminders. The next app assists women that have recently been diagnosed. The third is a helpful glossary mainly to help breast cancer patients and their loved ones learn medical terms.
1. Keep a Breast and Dr. K’s Breast Checker
Both these apps offer instructions on how to conduct a self-exam and both can remind you once a month to examine yourself. Dr. K’s Breast Checker also offers the option to be reminded yearly to get a mammogram. Keep a Breast allows you to post on Facebook, Twitter or email that you just examined yourself to remind your friends. Dr. K’s app lets you keep notes of any changes you feel every month and has a short questionnaire to see if it’s something to ask your doctor about.

“I am so glad this software is on the iPhone! When I was diagnosed with breast cancer, the Beyond the Shock Program helped me understand the different types and stages of breast cancer. I felt more empowered and better prepared to fight the breast cancer. The program has been completely rewritten and is even more user friendly than when I depended so heavily on it. You can find answers in it to many of the questions that you forgot to ask your surgeon or oncologist. If you know anyone affected by breast cancer, this is a good resource to recommend.”
