I was diagnosed on October 31, 2013 with Aggressive Invasive Ductal Carcinoma. I was told it was very aggressive – on a scale of 1 to 100, mine was 100! I immediately started chemo and during which I was unable to work as a full time employee. My health was in jeopardy and now I was totally stressed out about money and falling behind on bills. A social worker at the hospital gave me a few names and numbers of organizations that might be able to help with financial assistance. The United Breast Cancer Foundation was on this list. I downloaded the application and filled it out, praying and hoping for help. Going through this and battling this disease is bad enough, but when you’re on the verge of losing everything you have as well, it can be detrimental. I needed help with rent, utilities, etc. – you name it, I’m behind on it!
I heard back from UBCF via letter received on June 26, 2014. They were granting me help by paying a month rent and help with a utility bill! Hallelujah! Thank God for organizations like UBCF who try to help those who are in this situation. It is a blessing to all of us out there struggling, so thank you from all of us! This enables me to have a little more breathing room and to catch up on one more months rent and keep my lights on. Thank you so much! I am still receiving treatment and am told that hopefully by the end of the year I will be done with all my surgeries, etc. This has been a real help in keeping my spirits up to face the next hurdle.
God Bless Y’all!
