Carol’s journey with breast cancer has been one of many up’s and downs. Four years ago, Carol was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was managing a stressful divorce while raising two children. Breast cancer robbed her of her breasts and femininity. Read on to learn how Carol found UBCF and where she is in her journey.
I couldn’t afford health insurance, so I was given a grant from the hospital for a mastectomy. However, it didn’t cover reconstruction and that was devastating. My social worker recommended United Breast Cancer Foundation and the first person I spoke to was Jennifer Spina. She took the burden off my shoulders, as I was assured that I would feel whole again. I want to Thank Jennifer for the relentless effort she puts into helping people whose lives are obstructed by cancer and also to the Foundation for coming to my rescue. At this moment, the Cancer is back with a vengeance but I’m fighting by the Grace of God and I’m confident he will get me through it.
Carol is now cancer-free and, thanks to your support, is in the process of her reconstruction. Stay updated on Carol’s story by visiting our website.
