My First Full Body Thermography

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, I decided to take some of my own advice and go for a preventive screening.  I picked The Balance Health and Wellness Center in Lindenhurst, NY to get my first thermography.  I selected this facility because they use the Thermal point system for the full body thermography and I know that it is an FDA approved procedure.  When I began my research, I also noticed they were running a special for $279.00, when the full body is usually $450.00.   That discount, paired with the potential breast screening coverage of up to $150.00 from the United Breast Cancer Foundation, makes this a much more affordable procedure.  So, I went for it!

Once I made my appointment, I was given a list of instructions to follow prior to the procedure.

Make sure to review the guidelines closely and not to cheat, cheating may result in a false-positive on your reading.

You’ll want to wear lose fitting clothing that can easily be removed and do not wear a bra!  Shower the night before and arrive at least 20 minutes before your appointment so your body becomes acclimated.  READ THE REST OF THE GUIDELINES PROVIDED TO YOU.

Shannon, my certified Thermal Technician, was very knowledgeable and made me feel comfortable.  There was a quick 2 minutes of questioning regarding past surgeries and medical history then we jumped right in.  Shannon started by explaining the points and allowing me to sit and condition my body temperature to the room.IMG_8224

While wearing an unbuttoned hospital gown, Shannon began to scan the points in my body.  This took about 10 minutes.  She then had me stand completely undressed, turned the AC on and left the room for 10 minutes.  Yes, it was cold!  She then re-scanned those same points.  I have my follow up appointment scheduled for next week, where I will discuss the details with the Doctor one-on-one.

It was quick, easy, and I felt relaxed the entire time.  I would strongly suggest this scanning and welcome any questions that you may have regarding my experience!
